The death of doyen of Tamil Nadu politics and former chief minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday night brought to the fore an interesting debate in the social media circles in Andhra Pradesh, especially among the fan clubs of power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan.
Following the death of the founder-president of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), all the media obviously wrote obituary stories on him, including his family background.
Though Tamilians are aware of his family secrets, the rest of the India was not very familiar to the fact that Karunanidhi had three wives.
The first wife is no more, the second wife is suffering from Alzheimer disease and third wife is still active.
Now the question doing rounds in the social media circles is why nobody had questioned Karunanidhi for having three wives, though polygamy is a crime as per the law.
Moreover, he had not divorced the first wife before marrying the second woman and did not the same with regard to third wife.
“Everybody knows even senior actor Gemini Ganeshan had three wives including Savithri. But, nobody had any objection to it. On the other hand, he was projected as a lover boy,” a netizen pointed out.
But when power star Pawan Kalyan married three women, but only after following the laws of the land, he is under attack.
“He married the second woman only after divorcing the first wife. He did the same with Renu Desai before marrying the Russian wife.
Like Karunanidhi, he is also a film personality who entered politics. Why didn’t you question Karunanidhi, and why people are finding fault with Pawan for three marriages?” he asked.
