Perhaps there is no politician other than Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who looks at making political gains in every issue, even if it is a natural calamity.
Naidu first announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 crore towards flood relief in Kerala, but on coming to know that his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced Rs 25 crore to Kerala flood relief, Naidu quickly announced another Rs 5 crore, taking the total assistance to Rs 10 crore.
Yet, Naidu had to face trolling from the people, who obviously compared him with KCR. So, on Monday, Naidu declared that the total financial assistance from Andhra Pradesh would be around Rs 45 crore. How was such a sudden rise in the assistance from the state?
Well, there is a trick. The actual assistance from the state government is only Rs 10 crore. The state government employees under the AP NGOs’ association have announced contribution of their one-day wages, which comes to around Rs 24 crore.
The IAS and IPS officers of the state government also offered their one-month salary to the Kerala flood relief, besides contribution of one-month wages of the MPs, MLAs and MLCs of the Telugu Desam Party.
“In all, we have collected Rs 45 crore as flood relief to Kerala,” Naidu claimed.
It means, the voluntary donations by the employees, IAS/IPS officers and politicians have also sought to be claimed by Naidu as the state government contribution.
If that is the case, Naidu can even claim the individual donations of the people as his own government’s contribution!
