The sudden death of former Telugu Desam Party MP and politburo member Nandamuri Harikrishna in a ghastly road accident on Wednesday morning has cast shadow on the marriage of Andhra Pradesh tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya being held at Allagadda in the evening.
Akhila had invited over 50,000 people, including 5,000 VIPs and thousands of TDP leaders and activists across Andhra Pradesh to the wedding being held at Bhuma Shobha Nagi Reddy Memorial Engineering College at Kandukuru Metta in Allagadda.
Special arrangements for made the visit of Govenor E S L Narasimhan, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his family, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and other VIPs, besides MLAs and MLCs of the state.
However, with the sudden death of Harikrishna, all her festivities were forced to be suspended. Naidu obviously cannot make it because it is a tragedy in his family and the state government declared two-day mourning in respect of Harikrishna. Obviously, all other VIPs, too, would be forced to skip the marriage.
It was a personal shock to Akhila as well, as Harikrishna’s accident reminded her of the death of her mother Shobha Nagi Reddy in a similar road accident during the election campaign in April 2014.
Akhila who was still young them was forced to contest from Allagadda in place of her mother.
At a time when she is trying to overcome the tragedy by getting married in a grand manner, the death of Harikrishna in a similar road accident would have definitely upset her.
