Speaking to the media some time back, KTR said, "Chandrababu Naidu says that it is not his voice on the audio tapes. On the other hand, he says that his phones have been tapped. So is he admitting that it his voice on the tape?"
Now, this is a valid point by KTR. But then he adds, "It is undoubtedly Naidu’s voice because only he can speak such bad English." The word he used was ‘daridrapu’. It is precisely these kinds of wisecracks that KTR and Co need to avoid.
Once they start targeting their opposition by resorting to personal attacks, that is when these episodes take a regional twist.
KTR himself once said that although he does not like Narendra Modi, he respects him as the Prime Minister of India. Why make an exception in the case of Naidu then? Criticism should only be issue-based!
Incidentally, Chandrababu’s language skills did not come in the way of getting him the honor of sharing the dais with Bill Clinton.
Among KTR’s sycophants who burst into laughter at his wisecrack was TRS student-leader turned MP, Balka Suman. If any parent were to listen to Balka Suman’s speech in Parliament in English, they would immediately remove their children from convent schools and enroll them in Telugu medium schools.
