The combination of Ram and director Kishore Tirumala not long ago gave us a good romantic drama "Nenu Sailaja". The songs and trailers of their second film "Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi" too raised good expectations.
Let's find out if they have lived up to the expectations.
Story:
Abhi (Ram) and Vasu (Sree Vishnu) are buddies since childhood. After completing his education in Vizag, Abhi 'accidentally' meets Maha (Anupama) who is a house surgeon at KGH. They start liking each other and soon fall in love.
When he is about to propose her, Abhi comes to know that Vasu is also in love with her. So, Abhi arranges a meet between three of them and both of them propose to her at the same time.
In a twist Maha accepts Vasu's love and readies to marry her. Without telling them, Abhi leaves Vizag for Milan.
Four years later, Abhi comes down to Vizag when he hears a bad news. What has actually happened? Will the friends reunite again?
Artistes’ Performances:
Ram has appeared in two different shades of characterization which he has pulled off with ease. He has done such roles in the past, so he has given decent performance here. The beard look doesn’t suit him well though.
Sree Vishnu has got meaty role and he shines in this role. Anupama Parameshwaran steals the show. Even though she appears in first half only, she holds the movie with her cute expressions and good performance. The film belongs to her.
Lavanya gets another bad role. Priyadarshi's jokes as alcohol-loving friend are fun. Kireet and others are okay.
Technical Excellence:
Sameer Reddy’s work is a major asset in terms of cinematography. He has picturised familiar locations in different manner.
Devi Sri Prasad’s music is not as infectious as in Kishore Tirumala’s movie “Nenu Sailaja”. Nevertheless, the songs are a major plus point. The film is too lengthy and it needs urgent trimming. Production values are decent.

Analysis:
From the days of "Premadesam", many movies have dealt with the theme of two friends falling in love with the same girl. After directing "Nenu Sailaja", Kishore Tirumala has picked up the same theme for "Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi".
Unlike "Premadesam" and previous movies, here the two girls bring conflict between two friends twice in their lives.
The story line is as thin as pootharekulu and sequences are mix of many movies. Hence the director's narration is not fully effective though pre-interval episodes and climax sequences are terrific. This precisely is the issue with the movie. Apart from these two episodes, rest of the drama is totally predictable.
Moreover the narration is slower than snail's pace. The director has taken his own time to establish the conflict in the first half. Although the pre-interval twist is highly engaging, the director has filled the routine scenes before this.
Once the story moves to a resort in Ooty, we feel restless as silly and beaten-to-death situations are recreated. The entire thread of Lavanya and Ram tests patience. Added to this, Lavanya is shown quite bad.
Even the emotional scenes between these friends sometimes put us in confusion. Are they friends or more than that, we wonder sometimes.
The breezy romantic track between Ram and Anupama goes missing in rest of the movie and making us sing ‘what amma what is this’ as it moves at snail pace.
All in all, "Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi” is old school movie about two friends that is told in slow manner with a decent first half. Except for the final 10 minutes, entire second half is wasted with clichéd moments and boring narration.
Finally it lacks effectiveness in totality despite some good moments here and there.
